| Fire surrounds are the centrepiece of any room, and
this surely has to be the most eye catching. This superb fire can't
be mistaken for any other era, with it's strong geometric design and
strong contrasting yellow and black colours. The whole piece weighs
an absolute ton. However we've found a nifty way of moving this around,
so won't be a problem to deliver. The whole front and sides are made
from yellow and black vitralite (compressed glass), a very expensive
material then and even more expensive now. Vitralite was usually used
to make trinket boxes and splash backs for bathrooms, so this fire
would have been very expensive to manurfacture. There is a concave
mirror shelf to the middle top area, that small trinkets can be placed
on, maybe a nice chrome or mirrored picture frame would look nice.
We haven't tested the gas element and so this is sold as seen. However
if it's not working, we're pretty sure it can be easily fixed. The
whole piece is in excellent condition with only minor signs of it's
true age ( we've yet to clean the chrome part to the gas surround,
will add new pics when this is done, but there's no pitting or tarnishing,
so will come up gleaming!). This piece is definately for the genuine
Deco enthusiast who loves glam, and if put in a period 30's home would
certainly be an asset and investment to your property.
