This absolutely fabulous & spectacular Art Deco
Cocktail Cabinet was made to the finest standards in Birds Eye Maple
and Walnut by the highly esteemed furniture makers of the era, H&L
Epstein.
The double bow front of Birds Eye Maple coupled with
the double mouldings in Walnut give the whole effect of the Deco "Wave"
style.
The edges and the mouldings are of Walnut with the main part of the
doors in Birds Eye Maple. The upper and lower doors have working locks
and key to the right hand doors with interior bolts to the left hand
doors, all of the doors have strong and secure full length piano-type
hinges.
Open the doors to reveal an equally spectacular
interior.
In the top section, the back and bottom are mirrored with a central
plate glass shelf and there are working interior lights in the rear
corners above which are glamorously stylish bracket supports. The
backs of both doors have racks for straws and spoons. The right hand
door has 3 (original) clear glass straws with spoon-type ends for
stirring, below is a rack containing 2 plated spoons in clips, originally
with 3, one of the clips is broken with its spoon missing. The left
hand door has an upper rack with 3 straws with spoon type ends, below
is a rack containing 3 plated spoons in clips.
Below the upper doors is a pull-out slide, the front edge of Walnut
and the top of the slide in Birds Eye Maple. The lower doors open
to reveal a large storage area for bottles/cans etc and has a shelf,
the front edge of which is crossbanded in Walnut. The back of the
left hand door has a rack to contain 12 cocktail sticks of which 6
remain, the back of the right hand door has a juice squeezer held
in clips.
Below it stands on a stepped plinth with the theme continued of Walnut
edges and mouldings between Birds Eye Maple. Except for some marks
in the silvering of the mirror bottom and a minor chip to the underside
edge of the glass shelf it is in fabulous condition and ready to bring
all the fantastic glamour and style of magnificent Deco to your home.
