| A fantastic piece of Art Deco furniture which sums up the glamour and decadence of the period. This is a king size fitting bed with integral bedside cabinets attached. The large head board has the streamlined shape that you associate with very much with Art Deco and is veneered with a walnut grained wood . The straight grain is used to great effect as it is laid in a repeated herring bone pattern along its length. This is contrasted against a darker and richer crossbanded edge of burr amboyna which continues down on to the cabinets unifying the whole piece. The cupboards open to reveal one removable shelf and are raised on stepped plinths. The tops of the cupboards have been quarter veneered in the straight grain which gives a very geometric and striking design. This is a very grand bed and I doubt very much would have been cheaply made when manufactured originally. Ideal as a focal point to any bedroom. Having been newly French polished and restored this wonderful bed is ready to grace your home.
